As a photographer who loves the game of golf, I regularly find myself wandering in some of the world’s most beautiful playgrounds. I don’t always get to play or shoot in perfect conditions, but in my imagination I often wonder how the Golf Gods would illuminate the contours, fairways and greens of the wild land that has been tamed for our pleasure. The “Divine Light” series and exhibition is my interpretation of this exploration.
I had just finished shooting the new show at Australian Outback Spectacular on the Gold Coast. As well as the official program and marketing images, I embarked on a personal project to document the backstage action and training of the horses and riders. It has been a rewarding experience to spend time with the highly skilled team and their beautiful animals, and to capture the relationships and hard work that evolve behind the scenes of such a major production. I was collaborating with my assistant who is also an accomplished photographer and we have assembled a collection of images that we are very proud of.
The South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas is an annual gathering of all the best minds in the worlds of Interactive, Film and Music. Stimulating and thought provoking sessions by scientists, inventors, actors, dissidents and musicians kept my brain and imagination ticking over. Couple that with great music, food, Texan hospitality and the company of some fine friends and it was an exceptional week. Here are a few random snapshots of the sights and sounds around me.
